Trauma

“Our wounds are often the openings into the best and most beautiful part of us.”

~David Richo

What is trauma?

You may not understand it, but you’ll know it when you feel it.

Maybe you or a loved one survived a terrifying or dangerous experience – what we call Big ‘T’ Trauma; or maybe it’s something that doesn’t seem quite as scary but has still caused noticeable changes – what we call Little ‘T’ Trauma.

Either way, you are going through painful changes.

You know it’s there – you just can’t let go of the memory – it invades your mind with amazing clarity. Constant alert and stress become your new “normal.” Flashbacks and intrusive thoughts overtake you.

You’re overly jumpy, anxious, depressed – maybe even numb. You avoid everything and everybody you used to enjoy, and you just don’t trust or feel safe anymore.

You’re consumed with guilt and responsibility; the nightmares plague your sleep, and you’re exhausted, irritable, and terrified.

Trauma makes you feel unsafe in your own mind and skin.

What’s wrong with me???

Nothing. There’s nothing wrong with you.

What you’re going through is normal.

What you had to endure was NOT normal, and that’s where the problem started.

Are friends and family telling you to “let go” or “move on”? The problem isn’t that you’re not letting go, it’s that the past has been unwilling to let go of you… yet.

There is hope.

It’s therapy.

I know – just the thought of treatment – of talking about your trauma – can be incredibly scary and overwhelming, but you don’t have to worry. I will never push you or make you do anything.

We’ll proceed when YOU are ready.

In fact, you don’t have to talk about the details. It’s not necessary. I can help you through treatment without retraumatizing you.

When we work together, we’ll use EMDR, a proven and effective method for overcoming trauma.

What’s holding you back?

I have worked with many people who have survived trauma (mild to severe), processed the experiences, and moved on with resilience, strength, and confidence.

I can help you too.

Let’s work together to put these experiences in your past – once and for all – so that you can move on and live the life you were meant to live.
